Thursday night saw Jason Hughes in action at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) for the opening night of the King of America VIII Modified Nationals. With 78 Modifieds on hand for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned weekend, Hughes improved one spot in his heat logging a 4th place finish. Needing to place 3rd or better in his B-Main to make the opening night feature, Jason came up one spot shy with a 4th place outing.

Returning on Friday for two rounds of heat races, Jason passed four cars in his first heat reeling in a 7th place finish. Starting on the pole of his second heat, Hughes cruised to a 12-lap heat race win positioning him 20th in overall points. Transferring into the B-Main on Saturday, Jason posted a 2nd place finish behind Dereck Ramirez locking his spot into the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Jason Hughes kicked off the 2018 season on Friday night at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) for the fourth round of the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Winter Speedweeks presented by MSD Performance. Gaining three spots in his heat race, Hughes captured the 8-lap heat race win positioning him 3rd on the starting grid for the $3,000-to-win A-Main. Running into problems early, Jason retired from the 40-lap feature on the third lap.

The following night, Hughes headed to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) for the $3,000 top prize. After a disqualification ended his heat race early, Jason scratched from his 12-lap consolation event bringing an early end to his night.

Sunday night’s USMTS finale at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) was washed away by Mother Nature.
