1July 27th, 2013 - Jason Hughes opened the 3rd Annual World Modified Dirt Track Championship with a bang on Wednesday night at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota) by scoring the win! ( photo)

He started the night by being the fastest qualifier in his group and with the top six qualifiers in each group being inverted for heat race action, he started 6th. A 6th to 2nd run in his heat race resulted in Hughes being the 2nd highest point's earner via preliminary action, and as a result he started 2nd in the feature alongside Lucas Schott. Jason would go on to charge to the win in the feature to end the night as the top point's earner, which locks him into Saturday night's $20,000-to-win finale!

On Saturday evening Jason entered the final night of the mega-event in front of a capacity crowd and threatening skies at the 3/8 mile oval. Via his preliminary 1night performance Hughes started 4th in the feature, and early in the event would advance to the second position behind race leader, Jason Krohn. Jason stalked Krohn until a lap 28, when he pulled even with the leader before taking control of the lead on lap 30. The next several laps found Hughes inching away from the field, but a late-race caution bunched the field with just seven laps remaining gave second place runner, Stormy Scott a shot at the top spot. However, Jason would not be denied as he raced to the biggest win of his career and fifth of the 2013 season!

"We had a really good car all weekend; Steve (Karver, crew chief) had this thing dialed in and we were pretty comfortable out there," Hughes said following his seventh USMTS win at Deer Creek, "I didn't want to see that caution at the end. I hadn't seen anybody until then so I figured we were running pretty good."

Scott, Joey Jenson, Krohn, and Rodney Sanders rounded out the top five finishers.

1July 20th, 2013 - The team participated in the 3rd Annual Silver Dollar Nationals over the weekend at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska) with the USMTS Open Wheel Modifieds.

On Friday night a $4,000-to-win program was held, which attracted a field of 36 entries to the lightning-fast, 1/2 mile oval. Thirty-six entries tossed their names into the hat to contest for the win, and in heat race action Jason won his heat race to move on to the redraw, where he received the 2nd starting spot alongside, Johnny Bone Jr. for the feature. Hughes jumped to the lead at the drop of the green flag and paced the first half of the race before Rodney Sanders moved in to challenge. The duo battled side-by-side before Sanders inched ahead with two laps remaining. A late-race caution set up a two lap dash to the checkers and Hughes would finish half a car length behind Sanders to finish a disappointing 2nd.

Saturday found Hughes looking for redemption, but unfortunately he would again come up short in his pursuit of victory. The entry list increased to 39 competitors as the first place check swelled to over $5,000-to-win. A 7th to 3rd run in his heat race sent Jason to the redraw for the feature, where he was the recipient of the 5th starting spot for the 35 lap finale. He quickly began working his way forward in the field early in the feature, and on lap 14 he drove past Johnny Scott for the lead. Hughes held onto the lead until lap 23, when Rodney Sanders used the high groove to race to the lead. Over the remainder of the race Jason raced in the top three spots before crossing the finish line in 3rd behind race winner, Sanders, and Jeremy Payne.

July 17th, 2013 - After a few weeks away from the track Jason returned to action on Tuesday evening at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas) with a $5,000-to-win 1competition at the 1/2 mile oval. With 46 entries entered Hughes advanced to a 4th place finish in his heat race to earn the 12th starting spot for the 40 lap main event. In the feature Jason quickly worked his way forward to as high as the 2nd spot before contact with the turn three wall on lap 29 ended his night in the 16th position.

Hughes looked for better luck on Wednesday night as the tour rolled into Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa) for another $5,000-to-win race. Twenty-nine entries filled the pit area, and a 4th to 1st run in his heat race resulted in him being the highest point's earner. In the redraw for the 40 lap finale he was only able to advance a single spot to a 6th place finish.
