Hughes Race Car

1November 17th, 2012 - Jason drew his 2012 campaign to a close over the weekend with a pair of events on Friday and Saturday night during the 6th Annual USMTS Texas Winter Nationals at the state-of-the-art facility.

Friday night found a $3,000 winner's check posted as eighty-one entries converged on the facility. Hughes began his night by racing from the tenth starting spot in his heat race to finish third. His heat performance locked him into the redraw for the feature, where he was the recipient of the pole starting spot. He was joined on the front row by Corey Babbitt, and as the race went green it was Hughes, who grabbed the lead. He maintained the top spot until lap traffic slowed him on lap 15, which allowed Jeremy Payne to take over the top spot. Jason went on to finish second in the event to Payne.

The weekend concluded on Saturday evening with a $4,000-to-win program. With eighty-two competitors in the pit area Jason won the fifth heat race from the pole position, which resulted in him starting fourteenth in the 40 lap finale. During the course of the feature Jason passed three cars on his way to an eleventh place finish.
