March 25th, 2017 - Opening the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) MSD Central Region presented by Summit Racing, Jason Hughes was one of 63 Open Wheel Modifieds signed in at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) on Thursday for the opening night of the King of America VII Modified Nationals presented by Summitt Racing. Improving three positions in his heat race, Jason logged a 4th plae finish transferring him into the B-Main for another shot at the feature. Sending the Top 4, Hughes charged to a 15-lap consolation victory locking his spot into the A-Main. Starting in 15th, Jason Hughes passed seven cars in the 40-lapper reeling in an 8th place finish.

Returning on Saturday for three rounds of heats, Jason followed up a 5th place finish in his first heat with a runner-up finish behind Jordan Grabouski in his second attempt. Passing seven cars in his third 10-lap heat race, Hughes notched a 4th place finish earning him the 12th-starting position for the $10,000-to-win King of America VII Modified Nationals A-Main on Saturday evening. Bringing home a Top 5 finish, Jason Hughes gained seven positions in the 70-lap affair registering a 5th place finish behind Ryan Gustin, Cade Dillard, Johnny Scott, and Lucas Schott.

March 11th, 2017 - Behind the wheel of the Murphrey Oil Companies #12 Open Wheel Modified, Jason Hughes visited Southern Oklahoma Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma) on Thursday evening for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned weekend. With 42 entries signed in, Hughes earned the 15th-starting position for the feature after losing one spot in his heat to place 2nd. Passing eight cars in the opening night of the 5th annual Sooner Showdown presented by Production Jars, Jason notched a 7th place finish.

On Friday evening storming to heat race win from the 4th-starting position, Jason earned the pole position for the feature after the redraw. Hanging on to a Top 5 finish, Hughes posted a 4th place spot behind Johnny Scott, Ricky Thornton Jr., and Zack VanderBeek with Cade Dillard coming in 5th.

Rolling off on the pole of his heat race on Saturday, Jason scored a 2nd place spot behind CA. Nix giving him the 10th-startng position for the $4,000-to-win finale. Breaking into the Top 5, Jason Hughes advanced five spots to place 5th behind Rodney Sanders, Dereck Ramirez, Chris Brown, and Zack VanderBeek. Jason was honored as the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger after his run in the 50-lap feature.

March 4th, 2017
- On Thursday night Jason Hughes traveled to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) for the fourth round of the Summit Racing United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Southern Region. Drawing 39 cars for the 6th annual Cajun Clash, Hughes secured his spot into the $2,000-to-win A-Main with a 2nd place finish in his heat behind Johnny Scott in a stacked field of veteran drivers. Starting in 3rd for the opening night feature, Hughes held his spot for all 30-laps recording a 3rd place finish behind Johnny Scott and Ryan Gustin with Cade Dillard and Kyle Strickler rounding out the Top 5.

Starting on the front row of his heat race on Friday, Jason charged to a heat victory locking him into the 4th-starting position for the main event. With $3,000 on the line, Hughes slipped back to a 9th place finish.

Closing out the 6th annual Cajun Clash on Saturday, Jason cruised to an 8-lap heat race victory putting him 7th on the starting rundown for the A-Main. Looking to break into the Top 5, Jason Hughes improved one position in the 50-lapper notching a 6th place finish.
