- Picking back up with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) on Friday evening, Jason Hughes was one of 47 cars signed in at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi). Starting in 4th in his heat, Jason charged to a 8-lap heat race victory putting him 5th on the starting rundown for the feature. Moving up one spot, Hughes landed a 4th place finish behind Cade Dillard, Chris Brown, and Stormy Scott with Trevor Egbert coming in 5th.

The second round of the Southern Region presented by Production Jars brought 44 USMTS followers to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) for another shot at the $3,000 top prize. Starting on the pole of his heat, Jason edged his way into the feature with a 4th place outing. Starting in 14th, Hughes passed five cars in the 40-lapper registering a 9th place finish.

On Sunday round three of the Summit Racing USMTS Southern Region came to a close at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi). Coming short of a transfer position in his heat with a 3rd place spot, Hughes locked his position into the finale with a 2nd place finish in B-Main. With $3,000 on the line, Jason Hughes slipped back to a 20th place outing.

- Jason Hughes made the trip to Shady Oaks Speedway (Goliad, Texas) on Thursday for the second round of the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Southern Region. Drawing 31 entries, Jason edged his way into the opening night feature with a 3rd place finish in his heat. Rolling off 9th for the A-Main, Hughes improved two spots in the 30-lapper to place 7th.

The following night starting on the pole of his heat, Jason cruised to an 8-lap heat race win putting him 4th on the starting rundown for the feature. Battling with Ricky Thornton Jr. for the top spot in the opening laps, Hughes got around the leader on lap-14. Holding off the field for the remaining 21 circuits, Jason Hughes charged to his second victory of the season with Ryan Gustin, Travis Saurer, Cade Dillard, and Johnny Scott rounding out the Top 5. For the final night of the Summit Racing Southern Region presented by Production Jars, Hughes logged a 6th place outing in his heat giving him one final shot at the A-Main with a B-Main appearance. Sending the Top 5, Jason landed a runner-up finish behind Tyler Wolff locking his spot into the $4,000-to-win feature. Passing nine cars in the 40-lap affair, Jason Hughes reeled in a 7th place finish.

- On Thursday night Jason Hughes kicked off the 2017 campaign by traveling to Cotton Bowl Speedway (Paige, Texas) for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) season-opener. In a field of 42 Open Wheel Modifieds, Jason secured his spot into the $2,000-to-win A-Main with a 3rd place finish in his heat. Earning the 11th-starting position, Hughes improved two positions in the 40-lapper posting a 9th place finish.

Returning on Friday to a field of 41 cars, Hughes failed to get anything started from the back of his heat placing 7th. Coming from the 7th-starting spot in his B-Main, Jason charged to a runner-up finish behind Cade Dillard locking his spot into the show. Rolling off 16th for the $3,000-to-win A-Main, Hughes wheeled his way into the lead in just the first 20 laps. Wrapping up the Summit Racing USMTS Southern Region event presented by Production Jars on Saturday night, Jason advanced four positions in his heat race edging his way into the $4,000-to-win finale with a 3rd place finish. Earning the 9th-starting position, Jason worked his way into a podium finish by the mid-point of the 50-lapper. Battling his way through lap-traffic in the final laps, Jason Hughes notched a 2nd place finish behind Chris Brown with Ricky Thornton Jr., Dereck Ramirez, and Zack VanderBeek rounding out the Top 5
