August 28th, 2016 - Competing in the 9th round of The Hunt for the Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental, Jason Hughes was one of 26 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) Modified signed at Hamilton County Speedway (Webster City, Iowa) on Thursday night for the $3,000-to-win opening night A-Main. Scoring a heat race win early in the night, Jason earned the 3rd-starting position for the main event. Holding his spot for all 32-laps, Hughes notched a 3rd place finish behind Cade Dillard and Zack VanderBeek with Ricky Thornton Jr. and Rodney Sanders rounding out the Top 5.

The following night brought Hughes to Rapid Speedway (Rock Rapids, Iowa) for another $3,000-to-win A-Main. Improving one position in his heat, Jason recorded a 3rd place finish giving him the 7th-starting spot for the feature. Dropping one position in the 42-lap affair, Hughes logged a 8th place outing.

The next stop for The Hunt for the Casey’s Cup was at Park Jefferson Speedway (Jefferson, South Dakota) on Saturday night. Placing 2nd in his heat behind Ricky Thornton Jr., Jason rolled off on the pole for the main event. Losing two spots in the 37-lap A-Main, Hughes captured a 3rd place finish behind Rodney Sanders and Jesse Sobbing with Thornton Jr. and Stormy Scott trailing them across the finish line.

For the 12th round of The Hunt for the Casey’s Cup, Jason made the trip to Casino Speedway (Watertown, South Dakota) on Sunday for the inaugural Sandy Benson Memorial. Coming from the 7th-starting spot in his heat, Hughes recorded a 3rd place finish earning him the 10th-starting position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main. Breaking into the Top 5, Jason Hughes improved five positions in the 52-lapper posting a 5th place finish behind Zack VanderBeek, Jesse Sobbing, Cade Dillard, and Ricky Thornton Jr.

August 21st, 2016 - Returning with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS), Jason Hughes traveled to Adams County Speedway (Corning, Iowa) on Thursday night for round six of The Hunt for the Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing and Rental. Storming to a heat race victory from the 5th-starting spot, Jason transferred into the main event with the pole position. Battling for a $3,000 payday, Jason scored a 5th place in the 32-lapper finishing behind Cade Dillard, Zack VanderBeek, Jesse Sobbing, and Rodney Sanders.

With the weather postponing Friday night’s Grant Junghans Memorial, Jason invaded Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor Creek, Oklahoma) on Saturday night. In a stout field of 64 Open Wheel Modifieds, Jason captured another heat race win giving him the 3rd-starting spot for the feature. Taking the lead on lap 21, Hughes held off the field for the remaining 11 laps to pick up his 14th win of the season and a $3,000 payday. Cade Dillard, Terry Phillips, Jesse Sobbing, and Zack VanderBeek trailed Jason Hughes across the finish line.

Closing out the three-day stint, Jason Hughes stopped at 81 Speedway (Park City, Kansas) on Sunday for round eight of The Hunt for the Casey’s Cup. Improving one position in his heat, Jason scored a heat race victory earning him the 5th-starting spot for the feature. Working his way into a podium finish, Hughes passed three cars in the 32-lapper registering a runner-up finish behind Ryan Gustin with Johnny Scott, Zack VanderBeek, and Jesse Sobbing rounding out the Top 5.

- After three consecutive rain-outs, the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) resumed at Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota) on Saturday night for the fourth round of The Hunt for the USMTS Casey’s Cup powered by S&S Fishing & Rental. In a field of 32 cars, Jason gained five positions in his heat landing a runner-up finish behind Johnny Scott. Transferring into the main event with the 7th-starting spot, Hughes worked his way into the lead by lap 31. Holding off the field for the remaining 11 laps, Jason Hughes captured his 13th victory of the season and a $3,000 payday. On Sunday night the USMTS followers headed to Mason City Motor Speedway (Mason City, Iowa) for another $3,000-to-win A-Main. Improving four spots in his heat, Jason posted a 3rd place finish giving him the pole position for the main event. Hanging on to a Top 5 finish, Hughes posted a 5th place finish behind Cade Dillard, Rodney Sanders, Zack VanderBeek, and Johnny Scott.

- Making the trip to Valley Speedway (Grain Valley, Missouri) on Thursday night, Jason Hughes was one of 31 cars signed in for the opening night of The Hunt in the United States Modified Tour Series (USMTS) powered by S&S Fishing & Rental. Gaining one position in his heat, Hughes transferred into the B-Main for another shot at the feature after placing 5th. Sending the top five into the show, Jason scored a consolation win giving him the 13th-starting position for the A-Main. Breaking into the Top 5, Jason Hughes advanced nine spots in the 42-lapper posting a 4th place finish behind Rodney Sanders, Cade Dillard, and Jesse Sobbing with Stormy Scott coming in 5th.

On Friday night Jason headed to Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) for another $3,000-to-win A-Main. Storming to a heat race win from the 4th-starting position, Hughes earned the pole position for the main event. Hanging on to a Top 5 finish, Jason notched a 5th place finish behind Terry Phillips, Jeremy Payne, Ryan Gustin, and Johnny Scott.

The next stop was at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri) on Saturday night for the 7th Annual Slick Mist Show-Me Shootout. Holding his 3rd-starting spot in his heat, Hughes transferred into the B-Main for another shot at the feature. Sending the top six, Jason logged a 3rd place finish earning him the 18th-starting position for the main event. Wheeling his way through the field fifteen spots, Jason Hughes posted a 3rd place finish in the 42-lapper finishing behind Zach VanderBeek and Ryan Gustin with Cade Dillard and Terry Phillips trailing them across the finish line.
