1November 8th, 2014 - Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) was the destination for Jason Hughes over the weekend. The 8th Annual Winter Nationals was contested at the 1/4 mile oval, which was sanctioned by the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS).

Thursday night's event posted a $2,000 winner's check, as sixty-six entries registered for battle. In preliminary action, Jason charged to a heat race win to earn a spot in the redraw for the 30 lap feature. Hughes received the sixth starting spot for the feature, and raced around the top five for much of the event before recording a sixth place finish at the checkered flag.

A $3,000 top prize was on the line for Friday evening's program, and a stout field of seventy-two Open Wheel Modifieds would register for battle. A ninth to fourth run in his heat race wasn't enough to lock Jason into the feature, sending him to a b-main. Hughes started second in his b-main and took the win to earn the fifteenth starting spot on the feature grid. During the course of the 40 lap main event, Jason advanced five positions for a solid tenth place finish.

Jason brought his 2014 season to a close on Saturday night with the finale of the 8th Annual Winter Nationals, which boosted a $4,000 top prize for competitors. Seventy entries filled the pit area, and a third place finish in his heat race left Jason short of locking into the feature. As a result, he would have to run a b-main where a second place finish earned him the eighteenth starting position for the 50 lap finale. In the feature Hughes raced to a tenth place finish in the final rundown.
