1August 24th, 2013 - The insanity of the Hunt for the Casey's Cup was back in full force on Thursday evening with a trip to Valley Speedway (Grain Valley, Missouri) for a $3,000-to-win program. With 36 entries in the pits heat race difficulties relegated Jason to a last place finish and sent him to a b-main. In the b-main he came to life to charge from the 10th starting spot to a 5th place finish, which positioned him starting 22nd on the grid for the feature. In the main event he earned the Mesilla Valley Transportation Hard Charger Award by passing ten cars to finish 12th.

The team traveled to Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas) on Friday evening for a $5,000-to-win slate that saw 42 entries register for battle. Hughes won his heat race to move onto the redraw for the feature, where he received the 7th starting spot for the main event. In the feature he raced in the top ten throughout before finishing 8th.

Jason Hughes ended the weekend at one of his favorite tracks on Saturday evening with a trip to the Salina Highbanks Speedway (Pryor Creek, Oklahoma), which played host to a $5,000-to-win event. By the time the night was over Hughes liked the place even more as he departed with his third win of the Hunt and his eighth win overall on the season.

Thirty-five Open Wheel Modifieds looked to conquer the USMTS program, and a 3rd to 2nd performance in his heat sent him to the redraw for the 30 lap finale. Being the recipient of the 2nd starting spot for the feature positioned Hughes starting alongside Jeremy Rasmussen. As the feature went green Hughes bolted to the lead and despite a mid-race challenge from Ryan Gustin, Jason would be able to lead all 30 laps for his 119th tour victor of his career. He was followed across the stripe by Terry Phillips, Rodney Sanders, Jason Krohn, and Zack VanderBeek.

Jason is third in the latest Hunt for the Casey's Cup standings. Full results from the events as well as the latest standings are available at www.USMTS.com.

1August 18th, 2013 - Another week of the Hunt for the Casey's Cup began on Wednesday night at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wisconsin) as 42 entries looked to take a stab at the $3,000 winner's check. Jason began his night by winning his heat race from the 5th starting spot, which made him the top point's earner in heat race action. In the redraw for the feature he was the recipient of the 5th starting spot. In the feature he was only able to advance a single position to a 4th place finish behind race winner, Johnny Scott, Dereck Ramirez, and Trent Follmer. (Bruce Nuttleman Photo)

Rice Lake Speedway (Rice Lake, Wisconsin) was the destination for the team on Thursday night, where a $3,000-to-win program was held. A big number at the pill draw left Jason starting 8th in his heat race. He would go on to advance to a 5th place finish, which sent him to a b-main. In the b-main he finished 2nd to earn the 16th starting spot for the 40 lap finale. In the feature he would go on to advance to an 8th place finish.

Friday night would prove to be the scene of Jason's seventh win of the 2013 season as he conquered a $5,000-to-win program at Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisconsin). 1Thirty-six entries took to the racy oval for the USMTS program, and a 6th to 2nd run in his heat race sent Hughes to the redraw for the feature, where he received the 6th starting spot. Early in the feature Jason worked his way into the third spot as he began to battle with Stormy Scott for the runner-up position. Hughes would search for different lines around the 3/8 mile oval, and with just four laps remaining he found a new line and was able to use lapped traffic to his advantage as he rocketed into the lead. Once out front he never looked back on his way to the victory, which came over Rodney Sanders, Stormy Scott, Craigh Thatcher, and Lucas Schott.

On the heels of his win Jason rolled into Ogilvie Raceway (Ogilvie, Minnesota) on Saturday evening for a $3,000-to-win go with the USMTS. Thirty-three entries were on hand for the race, and Hughes would fall just short of locking into the feature via heat race action, but a win in his b-main positioned him starting 13th on the grid for the 40 lap finale. Despite starting deep in the pack he mounted a strong charge forward to record a 2nd place finish behind race winner, Jason Krohn.

The insanely busy, five-day stretch drew to a close on Sunday evening at Granite City Speedway (Sauk Rapids, Minnesota) with a $5,000-to-win race. Thirty-entries converged on the oval for the program, and via heat race action Hughes locked into the 10th starting spot for the 40 lap finale. He would fail to advance many positions during the feature as he crossed the finish line in the 9th position.

Jason is third in the latest Hunt for the Casey's Cup standings. Full results from the events as well as the latest standings are available at www.USMTS.com.

August 11th, 2013 - It was a turbulent weekend for Jason Hughes as he set out to enter four Hunt for the Casey's Cup events in Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska in his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Hughes Race Car/Mullins Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS).

On Thursday night under threatening skies a $5,000-to-win race was held at I-35 Speedway (Winston, Missouri), where 29 entries registered for competition. A 4th to 2nd run in his heat race sent Hughes to the redraw for the feature, where he was the recipient of the 2nd starting spot for the 40 lap feature alongside pole sitter, Chris Brown.

Hughes jumped to the lead at the drop of the green flag, and held the top spot until the white flag lap, when contact from Jeremy Payne sent the leader spinning. A disappointed Hughes rejoined the tail of the field for the green-white-checkered finish and rebounded to finish 11th.

Friday night's program at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) was washed away by rain, so theteam resumed racing action on Saturday evening at the state-of-the-art, Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri), where another $5,000-to-win event would be held with 45 entries in the pits. Jason would have to come from a b-main to qualify for the feature, where he started 15th. He would be unable to advance any spots in the feature and crossed the finish line in 16th.

The weekend concluded under threatening skies on Sunday evening at I-80 Speedway (Greenwood, Nebraska), where Hughes would claim a $3,000 win! Thirty-two entries filled the pit area, and a 4th to 2nd performance in his heat race sent Hughes to the redraw for the feature, where he received the 2nd starting spot with Steve Whiteaker Jr. joining him on the front row. Hughes jumped to the lead at the drop of the green flag, and would pace the first two laps before seeing Jason Krohn jump to the lead. Hughes pursued him until lap 21, when he retook the lead for good on his way to his 6th win of 2013! Johnny Scott Rodney Sanders, Zack VanderBeek, and Jason Krohn rounded out the top five finishers.

Jason is now third in the latest Hunt for the Casey's Cup standings, just 38 points out of the lead. Full results from the event as well as the latest standings are available at www.USMTS.com.

August 6th, 2013 - Joe Mayhew scored the win in his Hughes Chassis at Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas) on August 3rd, 2013!

1August 2nd, 2013 - The Hunt for the Casey's Cup commenced on Friday night with a trip to Mooney Starr's Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas) in an event that drew 45 entries to the 3/8 mile oval.

After starting and finishing 5th in his heat race Hughes was relegated to a b-main, where he advanced from his 6th starting spot to a 3rd place finish, which transferred him to the 18th starting spot for the $3,000-to-win finale. During the course of the event Hughes advanced ten spots on his to an 8th place finish.

Unfortunately the remainder of the weekend's events would fall victim to rain.
